Blogmas 2017 day 18 - 10 things I love about Christmas

Welcome to blogmas day 18! There is only one week to go until Christmas day, and it seems to have sprung up very quickly! Today's post, I want to share the top 10 things I love about Christmas! I had to narrow it down to just 10 because I love this time of year so much, otherwise this would be a very long post!
So here are my top10 things I love about Christmas!

The Christmas Tree

Every year, I try to wait as long as possible to put my tree up, but it never happens! I always put it up a week or two before December, because I just can't possibly wait much longer! I love having the tree on at night, with it's pretty lights glowing. I don't overdo my tree, I have lights and ornaments. No tinsel or ribbons, and I love it so much!

Christmas Lights

I love to drive around and look at peoples Christmas lights that they decorate their houses with. There are some amazing looking house near where I live, and I love the work that goes into putting the lights up. We used to put lights up and it was a great feeling having people stop and look at our lights!

Decorations

Decorating my house is one of my favourite things to do at Christmas time. The only problem I have is there isn't enough room for all of my Christmas decor! I love adding lights wherever I can, I have even out some coloured ones around my bed frame! I also have Christmas themed bedding in my room as well as my sons room. There are all sorts of festive buts and pieces in my house, including a miniature Christmas village on display. I really do love this time of year.

Christmas Movies

There are so many great Christmas movies that it is so hard to narrow down my favourites. I did a post on which movies I love, and it doesn't matter how many times you watch them, they will always be great!

Wrapping Presents

I love to wrap gifts and get them as perfect looking as possible! My present wrapping skills have definitely improved over the years, and I love adding little bows and ribbons to make the pressies look extra!

Christmas Shopping and Sales

It's very important to write a list of who you need to buy for and stick to that list. Otherwise you find yourself adding things that you either don't necessarily need, or have too much for one person! This time of year is great for sales though, and it is very easy to say to yourself, oh I'll just add that present too!

Food and Drinks

Seeing as we celebrate Christmas in summer time, warm drinks are not as popular as they would be in the Northern hemisphere! I love all the different Christmas inspired cocktails that people make. I also love the food side of it, the Turkey, salads and best of all deserts! I usually make a trifle for Christmas and I love it because this is the only time of year that I make it.

Christmas Scents

I love the Christmassy scents at this time of year. I love cinnamon, vanilla, pine needles and even gingerbread! I have lot of Christmassy scented candles which have a lot of these scents in them. I also love the smell of Turkey cooking on Christmas day, and all the baking that goes along with it!

Christmas Songs

How cool are Christmas songs? My favourite thing to do is wrap presents while listening to some Christmas tunes. Actually, any chance I get I pop some on, whether it be housework, cooking tea or even in the car! So much fun bopping away to some Christmas Carols.

Christmas Atmosphere

This may sound quite strange, and I hope I can explain it, but I love the general atmosphere at this time of year. People are rushing to get gifts, or winding down for holiday mode and are generally happy and full of cheer! We are lucky to celebrate Christmas in the warmer months here in Australia, which means a lot of outdoor activities and barbecues. Christmas time usually means party time down under, and everyone is looking forward to a lovely break.

There are so many more things that I could have added, but I narrowed it down and this is the shortened version!
I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what sort of things you love at this time of year. I would love to know!

Blogmas 2017 Day 16 - Christmas Down Under

If there is one thing that I am jealous of at this time of year, it's the Northern Hemisphere and their wintery, chilly Christmas! I love the idea of a white Christmas, and cozying up at night with a hot chocolate with the Christmas lights on. It's something that we can't really do here in Australia because it's usually quite warm, being summer! We do have our own traditions though, with the weather being warmer it enables families to celebrate outdoors either at home, the beach or a camping adventure!
Today's post will be me sharing a few traditions with you, so if you aren't from the southern hemisphere, you will probably find these quite different from what you are used to.

Street Parties

If you live on a quiet street or even better a court, chances are you know most of you neighbours, and most likely there are a lot of kids in the street too. Christmas night usually would entail the closure of the street, so the families and kids can play and run amok!

Prawns

While the traditional Christmas dinner usually consists of roast Turkey and vegetables, it is an Aussie tradition to have prawns on Christmas day. I am not a seafood eater, so can't really say how good this is, but from all reports, it's amazing! I am definitely a more traditional person, preferring the turkey over the prawns, but my family regularly has prawns in the evening after a big lunch.

Christmas Lunch

Most families in Australia have a big Christmas lunch. As a child we would head to my grandparents house (which I still do) and have a big lunch with the whole family. Then after that all the kids would sit around the Christmas tree and open presents. By the afternoon, everyone is tired and full, and ready to go home.

Carols by Candlelight

This is a really fun tradition that you can find in most towns in Australia. The major cities will have a big one where there will be major performers and a whole lot of people, but smaller towns usually hold their own. This is where families usually pack a blanket, picnic and spend the night listening to Christmas carols by candlelight.

A plate for Santa

On Christmas Eve, we always make sure we leave out a plate of snacks for Santa. This will usually consist of a cookie, glass of milk and a carrots for the reindeer.

Christmas Lights

This is something I love about this time of year, it's when people decorate their houses with Christmas light. We have done it at our previous hose and it's so much fun! I love to look at all the amazing houses, some people do such an amazing job!

Backyard Cricket

I can remember many a Christmas day playing backyard cricket with the family. Often played late in the afternoon, and when the adults have had a little too much Christmas cheer and think they are international cricket stars! The wheelie bin would usually be the wickets, and it can make for an entertaining afternoon!

Blogmas 2017 Day 14 - The Christmas Tag

I don't think I have ever done a Tag before on my blog, so I thought I would do the Christmas Tag that I have seen floating around. So here is my version of The Christmas Tag!

1. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

I have a fake Christmas tree every year. I really like my Christmas tree, and this year I have gone for a rose gold theme. If you would like to have a closer look at my tree, click here.

2. What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Oooh this is a hard one. I can't simply just pick one, but there is one movie that I watch every year on Christmas night, and that is National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. I have watch this movie since I was a kid and it's still so funny!

3. Do you open your presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

We open our presents on Christmas morning. I remember when I was a kid my parents would give us a small present on Christmas Eve, which was very exciting. But I'm definitely more of a Christmas Morning present opener.

4. Favourite Festive food?

Wow, this is another tricky one to answer. I do have a sweet tooth, so I love all of the festive kind of deserts at this time of year. But the thing I most look forward to is the Christmas lunch with family, which usually consists of turkey and vegetables.

5. Favourite Christmas Scent.

I really can't narrow this down to one scent, because I like a few different ones. Apple and cinnamon scents a re a good one at this time of year. I usually have some wax melts in my warmer with this scent. Snow fairy from Lush is definitely a fave, and I would love a candle with this scent so I could have it through my whole house! I also like The Night before Christmas by Glasshouse fragrances, which is a gorgeous sugar plum scented candle.

6. Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

Honestly, i'm sort of half and half. The first half of the presents that I wrap are great, and I take my time to perfect the wrapping. Then I sort of get over it and just kind of rush through the wrapping!

7. What is your favourite Christmas song?

I don't have a stand out favourite, there are too many to choose from! I love Mariah Carey's All I want for Christmas is you. I do have a post where I named my favourites, the you can view by clicking here.

8. Where do you usually spend your Holiday?

I like to spend it at home, but I do have to visit other family members so I get that out of the way on the morning then come home for the afternoon.

9. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?

I seriously doubt it, the only ones I can remember are Prancer, Dasher, Donna, Vixen and of course Rudolph but that's about it!

10. What makes the holidays special for you?

Making sure my kids have the best experience as possible when it comes to Christmas. My youngest still believes in Santa so I am trying to keep that magic alive for as long as I can! Also, spending time with family makes it special too.

I hope you enjoyed this post, stay tuned for Day 15 tomorrow xx

Blogmas 2017 Day 12 - Lush Christmas Haul

Wow this month is flying by! I can't believe it's less than two weeks until Christmas, the rush is on the get everything sorted and presents bought! Sometimes we need to take some time for ourselves to sit down and chill out, and what better way to do that than with some beautiful lush products!
I love their Christmas range, so I managed to pick up a few of my favourite things.

 Snow Fairy Naked Shower Gel

I love this in the original bottle packaging, and this product is exactly the same. It's a hard version of the gel, and lathers up when mixed with water in the shower. The scent is amazing as always, snow fairy is always a winner for me!

Twilight Naked Shower Gel

I always find myself buying the same sort of things when it comes to lush, so I decided to mix it up a bit and try something I haven't used before. I bought the Naked Twilight shower gel and I really love the scent. I haven't tried the scent before, so thought I would give it a go. As usual, Lush never disappoints when it comes to their amazing smelling products.

Berry Berry Naked Shower Gel

Again, another scent that I have not tried before and this one smells so good! It's a very fruity, fun scent and has a bit of a silver sparkle to it. I can't wait to use this one in the shower!

Snow Fairy Jelly Bomb

This is something new and I am so looking forward to trying it. It says it's a jelly bomb, not entirely sure what they mean by that, but it has the familiar Snow Fairy Scent. This will be amazing in the bath!

Candy Mountain Bubble Bar

This is a favourite of mine and I always purchase this at Christmas time. I love how it makes the bath so bubbly and the bubbles last so long too.

Snow Fairy Cold Pressed Soap

As you can probably tell, Snow Fairy is my favourite scent. When I saw that it came in Soap form, I had to get it! It has that familiar snow fairy scent that we all know and love, so can't wait to use this one.

Plum Snow Bubble Bar

This is a very citrusy scent, so it's a little bit different from what I usually get. This is along the same lines as candy mountain, so looking forward to using this in the bath too.

Everytime I buy Lush products, I just want to have a shower or bath and try all the products! I love how they make my bathroom smell too, it gives off a lovely scent!

I hope you enjoyed this post, what products are you loving from Lush this season?

Stay tuned for day 13 tomorrow xx

Blogmas 2017 - Day 11 - My Favourite Festive Films

Hello and welcome to day 11 of Blogmas 2017! How has your December been so far? I hope you are all having a relatively stress free festive season so far! Today I will be sharing my favourite festive films with you all, and some of these movies are actually my part of my all time favourite movies! So keep on reading to find out my festive favourites!

Elf (2003)

There is something about a grown man behaving like a child that I find hysterical! My eight year old son and I love this movie and find ourselves giggling throughout the whole movie. I love how this movie is set in New York, I think it's so pretty at this time of year. Also the fact that this movie has a little bit of sweet, romantic and also adds some festive cheer makes this a must watch in my house during the festive season.

Home Alone (1990)

This is a family favourite in my house! No matter how many time we have watched it, we still love it just as much as the first time we watched it. I love the fact that a young boy like Kevin can outsmart two professional thieves! Then there's the very heartwarming ending that makes it a perfect Christmas film.

The Polar Express (2004)

How adorable I this film! I love it because Tom Hanks plays a major part of this movie, and also the animation is amazing! It really brings the magic of Christmas to life and a family favourite of ours.

Bridget Jones's Diary (2001)

This movie is definitely a favourite of mine, even when it's not Christmas! It's such a lovely, cheery movie with a festive theme, and if you're one of the few that haven't seen it yet, definitely do!

The Santa Clause (1994)

This really brings the magic of Christmas to life, by turning an ordinary man, played by Tim Allen, into Santa Claus! It's seems very unbelievable to all of his friends and family that he is in fact Santa Claus, but of course in the end, everything works out! A great movie to sit down with the kids and watch.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

I have saved my favourite movie until last. I absolutely love this movie, and always watch it on Christmas Night, after winding down from the big day. There is something about Chevy Chase and his ridiculous antics in this movie that make me laugh time and time again! An absolute classic movie that is a must watch at Christmas time.

Let me know which movies you enjoy watching at this time of year
Stay tuned for day 12 tomorrow xx

Blogmas 2017 Day 10 - Christmas To Do list

With Christmas getting closer and closer by the day, I thought I would sit down and write a to-do list for the things that I need to get done before the magical day arrives. The idea is to be organised and ready to enjoy the festivities that are Christmas by Christmas Eve.

  • Dig out all the Christmas decorations and decorate the house
  • Give the house a big clean so it looks perfect for Christmas
  • Send out Christmas cards (I must admit I can be slack in this area)
  • Plan Christmas day menu
  • Build a gingerbread house
  • Watch as many Christmas films as I can with the kids
  • Finish Christmas shopping before Christmas eve
  • Wrap all Christmas presents before Christmas eve
  • Find the perfect hiding place to store all of the gifts so the kids can't snoop ;-)
  • Go look at Christmas lights on houses
  • Make some Christmas crafts with the kids
  • Clean kids rooms and declutter to make way for more things. Donate unused toys to charity
  • Hang Stockings
Also, don't forget things like donating to those in need, doing a random act of kindness and things like that. Sometimes it those kind of things can make you and the other person feel amazing.

That is my Christmas list so far, I am sure I have forgotten to add something, but there is still plenty of time!

Hope you're all having an amazing December xx

Blogmas 2017 day 9 - My Christmas Wishlist

Ok, so I have started my Christmas shopping, and have decided what I am getting for other people. But someone asked me a few days ago if there was anything that I would like and I realised I actually hadn't really thought about it. So I had a bit of a browse on the internet and found a few things that I would like to see under the tree this Christmas.

Something I have had my eye on for some time is the Huda Beauty Desert Dusk eyeshadow palette. I love the look of the colours in this palette and have heard some great things about it.

I am obsessed with Lush products, in particular the Snow Fairy Range. The shower gel is my favourite and I also really like the candy mountain bubble bar.

My Hairdryer recently died, so I picked up a cheap one from Kmart, but it's definitely only temporary one until I gat another one. I found this one by GHD that looks really good, but there are a few others around that I like too.

I haven't bought any perfume in the longest time, and one that I really love is Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent. This is a beautiful scent and one that I have been after for a while now, so Santa if you're reading this I've been very good this year ;-)

For some more practical sort of things, I would love some things for my house. I love to decorate it with little nick nacks and cute things I find in my travels.

So that's my wish list for Christmas this year. Mostly I would just love to have a wonderful C

hristmas day with my family and hope that everyone has a great day too!

Blogmas 2017 Day 8 - My favourite Christmas Scents

Being the festive month that it is I like to get right into it! I love having a candle or something warming in my warmer to give my home a Christmassy feel. I have a couple of favourites that I will share for you today.

Glasshouse Fragrances

I love their candles. Not only do they smell amazing, but they really last a long time. At the moment I have two of their Christmas candles and I can't decide which one I love more!
The first one is The Night Before Christmas, or Dancing Sugar Plums. It has blackcurrant, plum, lemon and lavender to give you a beautiful magical Christmassy scent. I 100% agree. Each time I smell this scent, I am completely reminded of Christmas!

The other candle I have is Under the Mistletoe, which is spiced apple & red berries. This one has a blend of cinnamon, apple and berries which is a more traditional scent. I love this one too, and I can't get enough of their scents!

Scentsy Wax Melts

I also love a good wax melt, and I particularly like Scentsy wax melts. There are so many to choose from, but at the moment I have been using two.
The first one is called Vanilla Bean Buttercream and it smells like you are cooking a delicious cake in the oven! It has a very sweet scent of vanilla and can sugar, so if you like sweet scents then you will love this one.

My other current favourite scent form Scentsy is Homestead Holiday. This scent combines blood orange, cinnamon and fir needle. Again it is quite a traditional Christmassy scent with the cinnamon, and a perfect scent for this time of year.

Let me know what you like to have burning that makes you feel all festive! Thanks for reading, stay tuned for more tomorrow xx

Blogmas 2017 Day 6 - Simple 5 minute Makeup

With the silly season upon us, it feels like there is not enough time in the day to do what we need to do. I like to keep my makeup fairly simple at this time of year, and because the weather is quite warm at the moment I don't see the point of going all out with my makeup!
So I have a very simple 5 minute routine that I want to share with you, so keep on reading if you want to know what I use!

To start off with I use a primer. I am using Elf Brightening primer at the moment, I love the texture of it and how it brightens my skin before I apply my makeup.

For my foundation, I am using my favourite one by rimmel which is the longest. This is a great foundation for filling pores, and leaving you with a smooth and slightly dewy glow.

My eyelids are usually just dusted in a gorgeous Bronze colour from the Too Faced Sweet peach Palette. I like to have a shimmery colour on my eyelids, just to add some extra glow.

On my cheeks I've been wearing a bronzer from Models Own. I haven't used any of their products before, but this bronzer is amazing! It's made of a few shades which you can use individually, or swirl your brush in and use all of them together. I just use all of them together for this look, because it gives such a nice glow.

Next I applyAustralis Demi-Matte lipstick in Fearless. I love this colour. It's the perfect nude, and has a matte finish while leaving my lips moisturised.

I use my favourite mascara on my eyes which is the lash princess from Essence. I love this mascara and have been using it for the longest time. It add length as well as definition and fullness.

That's products I use for a quick and easy makeup look. I hope you're all having a wonderfil december and I will talk to to tomorrow xx

Blogmas 2017 - Day 5 My favourite Festive Tunes

I love playing Christmas songs at this time of year, it really puts me in a very festive and happy christmasy mood. I also love going onto the stores and hearing all the festive songs playing, it's such a fun time of the year!
So for today I will show you my top 10 favourite festive tunes

1. All I want for Christmas is You - Mariah Carey

This has become my very favourite Christmas song. I remember having the Mariah Carey Christmas Album when I was a kid and I absolutely loved it!

2. Jingle Bell Rock

I love this song because it's such a happy, upbeat song. I think it's the perfect party tune for the festive season, and it's on most Christmas playlists!

3. White Christmas - Bing Crosby

This man has a great voice, and even better when singing this song! I have always wanted to experience a white Christmas, it must be the English in me, so I have a very special place in my heart for this song.

4. It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas - Bing Crosby

Another song by Bing Crosby. I like this one because it just reminds me of the festive season, decorations everywhere, and just gets me excited for Christmas!

5. Let it Snow - Dean Martin

For some reason, I do enjoy listening to the older Christmas songs. I love this one for the same reasons as above, I would love to have a white Christmas! Pretty much impossible in Australia at this time of year, but stranger things have happened!

6. I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus - Jackson 5

This is such a cute song, I love young Micahel Jacksons voice. It's one of those songs that once you here it, you will be singing it in you head all day!

7. Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley

Another older song, but I really love Elvis's voice, so anything thing he sings I love. But this is a favourite of mine for sure!

8. Mistletoe - Justin Bieber

I have never really been a fan of Biebs, but I do like to listen to this song. I think it's quite a festive, sweet song.

9. Must be Santa - Bob Dylan

How festive and cheerful is this song! It's so upbeat, just makes me want to get up and have a dance! I love it.

10. Last Christmas - Wham

I couldn't do a playlist without adding this song. It's so eighties which is kinda why I like it!

I have may more favourite, but if I add them all we will be here all day! I hope you enjoy this post, let me know what your favourite festive songs are!
Stay tuned for day 6 tomorrow xx

Blogmas 2017 Day 4 - Christmas Haul

A lot of my Christmas decorations have come from Kmart, and it's really funny because the lady on the door commented the other day saying that I buy a lot of Christmas things! It's true, I do, it's my favourite time of the year. Also, my youngest son still believes in Santa, so I like to keep the magic alive!
For today's Blogmas, I will go through and share with you Christmassy things I have collected over the past few weeks.

I have a bit of a Rose gold/metallic theme this year, inspired by decorations from Kmart. In my opinion, I think Kmart have nailed Christmas this year. Their decorations are gorgeous and the prices are quite inexpensive.

I'll start off with the baubles I have bought for my tree. I bought two packs of large baubles, two pack of a sort of medium size and then two packets of smaller ones. I also picked about about 4 packets of these other rose gold decorations a that come in different shapes. They are all so pretty and I love how my tree looks this year!

I was scouring the Christmas section in Kmart, and I came across this gorgeous rose gold reindeer. It's absolutely stunning, and I love the reflective pieces on it. It really gives it an elegant glow. It sits beside my Christmas tree so at night the lights reflect off it making to look so pretty!

I really love to have candles going this time of year, I think it really adds to the festive feel! I saw these pretty Rose Gold tea light holders in Kmart for $4 each so I bought two! They are so cute, and I just add a little scented tea light candle in the middle. so pretty and so affordable!

Christmas Countdown Teddy Bear

Aldi have some of the most beautiful Christmas decorations and I when I saw this talking countdown teddy bear, I knew I had to have him! He's adorable, and when you press his paw he sings a song to let you know how many sleeps until Christmas! So cute and the kids love him.

Reindeer Cushion

How cute are these cushions! I purchased these in Kmart, and I think they look great. I particularly love the rose gold and navy together, it looks very elegant. These cushions are from Kmart of course, and will look great with most colour schemes.

Santas Sleigh

Another cute item from Kmart is this really cute Santa Sleigh. It's quite large, (large enough for my 8 year old son to sit in), and perfect for putting presents in on Christmas morning! It has two little bells on the bottom of it, which jingle when you move it, so it really does sound like Santa is coming! It was $15.00 but they sell out very quickly.

I think that is all I have actually purchased, I had a lot of things that I bought in the Boxing Day sales last year, so didn't really need to add too much to my collection!

I hope you are all having a wonderful festive season, stay tuned for blogmas day 5 tomorrow xx

Blogmas Day 3 - Gift Guide

For Day 3 of Blogmas, I'm going to give you some ideas that will hopefully help you with your Christmas shopping. Sometimes with gifts, less is more and I feel like many people go a little overboard when it comes to gift giving.
I will give you some budget friendly ideas so that you can hopefully save some pennies this festive season!

Kris Kringle Gifts

If you happen to be doing Kris Kringle gift this year, the Kmart is the place to go! The gifts start at 3 dollars and there is a great range of things that would be suitable for everyone.

For the kids

Again I have found Kmart to be a great place to get gifts for the kids. My top picks would be some lego, some craft or stationary sets, maybe some outdoor toys like a new bike or a scooter. There are so many great options, bu I do recommend getting in quick because they can sell out of things very quickly.

For Beauty Lovers.

I am a huge fan of The Body Shop, and I always like to buy little gift packs from there each Christmas. My two favourites would be the Frosted Berries Treat Box and The Frosted Plum Treat Box. These both retail for $15.00 each and are a great present to give.
Each pack comes with a 60ml Shower Gel, 50ml body Butter and a bath lily.

If the person you are buying for is into makeup then I would definitely recommend a gift card to Priceline or Sephora even, or another makeup brand. Some people would say that Gift cards are a little impersonal, but I think it's great, because then the person can go enjoy the fantastic Boxing Day sales that we have!

For Tech Lovers

Technology is great but it can also be sooo expensive! So instead of buying some fancy new gadget that probably is over priced and won't be used, I would recommend something that would go with what they already have.

For instance my son has a phone, and is always going through headphones! So that being the case investing in a decent set of headphone for his phone you;d be an option. I also like the idea of bluetooth speakers, these are great to take away with you so you an easily listen to music while you're away.
VR goggles are very popular at the moment and you can get some great ones for a good price. I recommend checking out places like Kmart & Target to get the best deals.

That's the end fo my post, I really hope it was helpful, there are so many great gift ideas out there though, so make sure you hunt around!
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas xx
