My Favourite Drug Store Makeup Products

When it comes to buying makeup products, I don't really have a preference to where I buy them from. It's a mixture of both store bought products and products bought online. So for today's post, I am going to share with you my favourite store bought or drug store products.

I'm going to go in order of how I apply my products so to start off with I am going to talk about primers.

The two I want to talk about are the Elf Cosmetics Mineral Face Primer and and BYS Cosmetics Primer Spray. I love these two products for different reasons. The Primer spray is so easy and convenient to use, you simply just spray and wait for it to dry. The Elf one comes in a pump bottle, so I just pump a small amount out and apply. It fills in my pores to give me a flawless complexion.

For Foundation I have two favourites that I use on a regular basis. The first one is the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation. I love this because it is very long lasting as well as giving my skin a flawless look. The other foundation that I love is by Maybelline and it's the matte and poreless foundation. This has been a favourite of mine for a while because I love the matte finish.

I love a nice powder and my holy grail face powder is by Australis. This is pretty much the only drug store powder I use and always pick an extra one when I see them on sale. It's the perfect powder for a matte and flawless finish.

For mascara I can be quite fussy. One I have been using recently that I've been loving is by Maybelline and it's called Lash Angel. At first I was a bit worried about the brush, because in my eyes it was a strange shape but I actually really like it. It cover each lash really well and it's buildable without looking too chunky on the eyes. My other favourite mascara is by Essence and I always repurchase this and it'sThe false Lashies Mascara. This is a staple in my makeup collection and for the price I think it's great.

That was some of my all time favourite "drug store" makeup products. Hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what you are loving!

Product Empties #1

In today's post, I just wanted to share with you my product empties for the month of may. I don't have a lot of empty products, but would like to share with you the ones I do have and my thoughts on them.

BYS Primer Spray

First of all I have a spray on primer from BYS Cosmetics. I love this product, it's the first spray on primer that I've used and I found it works so well on keeping your makeup long lasting. It's also a very inexpensive product, only costing me 10 dollars from Kmart

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

The next empty product is the Garnier Micellar water. This is a regular in my makeup/beauty routine. I use it to to take off my makeup at night, and also in the morning to remove any dirt or impurities that may have built up over night. If you haven't used it yet, I highly recommend it. It's great for sensitive skin as well as having no scent.

Lush Snow Fairy Body Wash

One of my favourite places to purchase bath and shower products from is Lush. I particularly love their Christmas range, so when they had their boxing day sale, I stocked up on my favourite Snow Fairy body wash. This surprisingly has lasted me quite a while, and I have only just finished using the bottle. I can't wait until Christmas time, so I can purchase it again!

Pantene Shampoo and Conditioner

For my hair, I regularly use the Pantene Ultimate 10 shampoo and conditioner. I love how soft and silky my hair feels after use, and have been using this shampoo and conditioner for ever!

Mascara

My final product is mascara by Maybelline. It's the Colossal Big Shot MascaraThis is a great mascara for adding volume and length to your lashes. Also, I love the bright, shiny packaging too, I'm a sucker for great packaging!!

So that was my product empties for the month of May. I hope to make this a regular post, maybe once a month so I will see how I go.

Let me know what your product empties were for the month of may, down below, I would love to know!

Current Skincare Routine

As most of you would know, in order to create a flawless complexion, it's really important to have a really good skincare routine. It has taken a while to work out what works for and what doesn't. Everyone is different! I change the products I use every so often, but I do keep it quite simple.
I have a day and a night time routine, which I will share for you so keep on reading if you want to know what it is!

Day Time Routine

  • As I said earlier, I do keep my routine quite simple. I will usually wipe my face with the Garnier Micellar Water with a cotton pad, to remove any dirt or impurities that may have built up over night.
  • To moisturise my face, again is very simple. I have been using the Physicians Formula Argan Oil serum which is a 4 in 1 product. I have a review in this product (which you can check out here). This is basically all I use and I will then apply my makeup for the day.

I use this both morning and night, and have noticed a huge difference in how bright my skin is.

Night Time Routine.

One of my favourite Facial Scrubs
  • At night time, I usually start by removing my makeup. I have been using The Body Shops Aloe Cream cleanser, and it's so gentle on my skin.
  • I will then use the Oil Balancing Charcoal Cleanser from Sukin. I love how this leaves my skin so smooth as well as removing oil and impurities from my face.
  • For a Toner, I have been using The Aloe toner from The Body Shop. It's just like the cream cleanser, very gentle on my skin.
  • To moisturise, I will use the Physicians Formula Argan oil
Some of the Gorgeous Aloe range from The Body Shop

That's pretty much all I do for my skin. I find it has been working really well for me. If I use too many products, my skin can break out, so I try to keep it as simple as I can.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know what products you like to use for your skincare routine.

Simple Makeup Tips

Over the years, I have pretty much taught myself how to apply makeup and figure out what works for me and what doesn't. This is due to the large amounts of tutorials that are available and also a little bit of trial and error. So today I wanted to share with you a few of my tips that I have picked up over the years.

Before Makeup Application

  • Basically, you want to start with clean skin. Using a gentle cleanser or even a toner to wipe away any impurities from your skin. I use Garnier Micellar water which is amazing!

Foundation

  • For my foundation, I always make sure I have moisturised and primed my skin before I apply my foundation. I also wait until the moisturiser has sunk into my skin and the orimer has set before I apply my foundation.

Mascara

  • I can be very fussy when it comes to mascara, but when I find one that I like I tend to stick with that one. I just apply my mascara using the wand horizontal to my eye, which works great but for an added bit of volume I will use the tip of the wand to add more product to my lashes. This makes my lashes look fuller, without having to apply false lashes.
  • Placing a card or Tissue under your bottom lashes when applying mascara help to prevent you from messing up your makeup.

Eyeshadow.

  • Eyeshadow has taken me a while to get the hang of, and I am still always learning something new. I used to be a strictly one colour eyeshadow person, which now seems so boring! The main thing is to start small then keep adding colour. It's easier to build up than it is to take off! Also blending with good brushes makes a huge difference.
  • An eyeshadow primer is also a good idea when applying eyeshadow. Using concealer and setting it with powder is a great alternative for a primer. By applying a base to your eyes, this will help your eyeshadow stand out and easier to blend.

Lips

  • I am a big fan of Liquid lipstick, preferring the more creme finish rather than a matte as matte tends to dry out my lips. If you do want to give your lips the illusion of being a bit more on the fuller side, apply a lighter shade to the middle of your lips then the darker shade to the outer sides.
  • Also adding a lip liner just outside your lip line can also give the appearance of fuller lips.

Finishing spray

  • Using a finishing spray is a great way to keep your makeup long lasting and avoids your face looking cakey. There are many brands on the market that have a finishing spray, I currently use one by Models Prefer and I love it.

Here are another few quick tips also

  • Using a clean brush or beauty blender really helps in giving that flawless finish
  • To intensify your eyeshadow colour, apply a bit of setting spray to your brush before picking up the shadow
  • Setting your foundation with a powder will help to prevent you skin looking oily

And Finally........

The one tip that I think is probably the most important is getting a good nights rest. This is a great way for your skin to rejuvenate and give you that fresh glow. Oh, and don't forget to remove your makeup at the end of the day too, otherwise your skin will suffer!!

Hope this was helpful to some of you, let me know if you have any tips, I am always learning something new!

What makes me Blush!

Today I decided that I wanted to share my current favourite blushers and bronzers! I never used to be much of a blush person to be honest, but these days there are just so many lovely blush and bronzer products, that it's hard not to have a few!

So getting straight into it, my most resent blush purchase is one from Covergirl. It's the Tru Blend Blush in the colour 200 - Medium Rose. It has a marbled look to it and even though it looks a bit shimmery, I find it has more of a satin finish.  It's quite pigmented, so you don't need a lot to add colour to your face. A great blush for everyday use!

Onto my next blush, and it's from Too Faced Cosmetics. It's the Sweet Peach Glow Palette and it's amazing! IT has a blush, bronzer and highlighter all in the same palette and the colours are just stunning. I do particularly like the blush on it's own, I love the texture and the pigmentation is great! This has become my go to blush palette, and I love the peach scent it has!

I have a few blushers that are part of a a trio. The next one I want to mention is the Maybelline Master Contour Kit. It has the three colours, the bronzer, highlighter and blush. I love the blush in this palette, it's a very subtle pink colour and buildable too.

This one is very similar to the Maybelline one, with the tones being a bit more on the warmer side. It's the Rimmel London Contour kit in 002 Coral Glow. The blush in this palette is really nice, and is a more coral colour than pink. This is also a very pigmented colour, so a little does go a long way!

I love the Body Shop products and this bronzer is definitely a favourite of mine. It is called Shimmer waves, and has the perfect amount of shimmer in it without being too overpowering. The colour is quite pigmented too, so you don't need a lot to make an impact.

Hope you enjoyed this pose, let me know which Blushers/Bronzers you are loving!
